Topics: How to rig, steer, sail, and dock boats. Points of sail, parts of the boat, knot tying, and having fun!
Objective: The Saint Petersburg Yacht Club’s Opti summer sailing classes are designed to allow sailors ages 8 to 13 to become acquainted with sailing and the basics of racing. Sailors will get hands on experience rigging, steering, maneuvering around docks and maneuvering around a course. This class focuses on an introduction to sailing, and sailors will be accompanied by coaches on the water in powerboats. We hope to make this age group fun so your children learn to love sailing as much as we do!
